Before you start your trip
Use the app to reserve and unlock the car. You will find all the needed information about the vehicles when selecting and browsing the available cars. Before unlocking a car, you can choose to reduce your liability insurance.
You can choose to unlock the car right away by pressing “Unlock Now” – or make a reservation by pressing “Reserve Now!”. The first 20 minutes of your reservation are free.
It costs 0,13€ per minute to reserve the car after your 20 minutes of free reservation time. You only pay for the minutes your reservation is on-going after the 20 minutes of free reservation.
I.e. you choose to reserve the car for 1 hour, but you unlock the car after 35 minutes. Then you will pay for 15 minutes of reservation time. Note that the 20 minutes are free, for each trip you actually take per day.
If your reservation expires, before you unlock the car, your reservation will end and the car will again be visible for other users. Note that you will pay for your reservation if the period is over 20 minutes and you do not choose to make use of your reservation.
I.e. you choose to reserve the car for 1 hour, but you do not unlock the car and start the trip. Then you will pay for 40 minutes of reservation time.
Your trip will start when the car is unlocked. Please note that you have full responsibility for the car until your trip has ended and the car is locked.
How to start the electric car
There are no keys, just a start/stop button, and your mobile phone. To drive, you do not use your left foot on the pedals at all.
To start the car, place your right foot on the left pedal (Brake) and press the Start/Stop button. The engine is now turned on.
Put the car in “D” for driving mode, “P” for parking, and “R” for reverse. It couldn’t be easier.
Parking the car
Parking in Helsinki
With GreenMobility you park for free in all public car parks with a minimum of 2 hours time limit every day all day within our zone. You can also choose to use any of your VIP parking spaces, also known as Hotspots. These are places, reserved only for GreenMobility’s cars. See all the Hotspots (HS) in the app and read more about them by clicking on the blue HS icon on the map or here.
Remember that you may not park in private parking spaces (incl. Q-Park & Europark) or at handicap- and taxi parking spaces or at private charging stations. Of course, all other normal parking rules also apply, when you drive with GreenMobility. If you do not follow the rules, you will pay the parking fines that apply.

Parking in Espoo
We also offer free street parking in Espoo. NOTE that the parking rules are different in Espoo. Read them carefully from here before leaving your car there.
Parking outside the zone
Outside our zone, you pay for parking yourself. You are welcome to drive outside the zone, but you can only end the trip within the original zone or at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. OBS 7€ airport fee will be deducted when starting or ending a trip at the airport.
How to end a trip
Simply put the car in “P” for the park and press the start/stop button. Make sure that all the windows and doors are closed and that the cards returned to the cardholder in the glove compartment. Only then, you can end the trip (or make a stopover) in your app.
You can only press “End trip” in the app when you have got of the vehicle! Remember that you can only end your trip within the zone or at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport.
Please note that you have full responsibility for the car until your trip has ended and the car is locked.
Shortly after, you will receive a trip summary in your app and email. If you did not find an answer to the frequently asked questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us for further information.
What is “Stopover”?
If you need to park the car but still rent it, for instance, while shopping, visiting some friends or going on vacation, you can use the “stopover” function in the app. Step out of the car and press “stopover”. Then the car locks while you are away from it and you still pay for the rental of the car. There is no other people who can reserve the car in the meantime. When you are ready to drive again, simply continue the trip in the app.
Why was my prepaid minutes not used?
The app uses customers prepaid minutes to cover the cost of the trip automatically. There are however, a few exceptions to the rule.
Prepaid minutes are not automatically used, if:
- You have an hour- or day package waiting on your account. In this situation, your package will automatically start when you open a car. Your minutes will be saved for later use.
- You take a discounted car. Discounted car only costs 0,25€/min. For this reason, the system does not use your minutes with these cars but saves them for later, when you will get more value for your minutes. Discounted cars are marked with an orange percentage sign in the app.
- You drive for longer than 2,5 hours. In this situation the system will automatically charge a fixed day price of 90€ from your account. After this, you can drive as much as you like up to 24 hours and the price won’t change.

Where can I go?
GreenMobility operates Helsinki. This is where you can start and end your trip. You are welcome to drive out of the zone and around all of Finland. The car just always has to return to its original zone or to our Hotspot at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport at the end of the trip. OBS 7€ airport fee will be deducted when starting or ending a trip at the airport. If you are planning a longer trip in our electric cars, we always advise you to see how much power the electric car has left and be aware of the charging stations around the country. You can read more about this under “Charging”.
Can I drive out of the zone?
You are welcome to drive out of the zone, but you can only end your trip within the zone where you started your trip or the associated satellite zones. If you drive out of the zone, e.g. on a weekend trip and keep the electric car for several days in a row, you can press “stopover” in the app. Then the car locks while you are away from it. Read more under the section “What is “stopover”?.
Help the next user – and your self. You can earn free minutes when the car is below 60% battery by plugging it into a charger. The minutes will automatically be added to your account after the car is plugged in and our trip has ended. You are welcomed to charge your GreenMobility for free in all Helen and Virta charging stations around Finland. You can find all Helen stations here and all the Virta stations here. Use Type 2 chargers.
Plugging in to a charger
- Open the front logo cover on the car by pushing the switch with the charger icon on the left of the stearing wheel.
- Take the Helen-card from the middle panel and hold it close to the Helen or Virta charger to open the port.
- Plug in the cable to the socket on the car first and then into the charging station. The cable is in the trunk.
- Place the Helen-card back into the cardholder in the middle panel.
Detaching from a charger
If the car is plugged in you must remember to unlock the car and unplug the cable from within. Otherwise, you can’t remove the cable from car or charger.
- Unlock the car
- Press the switch with the charger icon on the left of the stearing wheel.
- Unplug the cable from the car.
- Take the other end of the cable our of the charger’s socket. Place the cable back into the trunk.
Should the cable be stuck use the Helen-card in the glove compartment on the charger.
Insurance with GreenMobility
The cars are liability, accident, hull and theft insured. If you have an accident, the own risk is 670€. If any accidents happen to the car by your reservation, you have to contact our support team.
Other rules with GreenMobility
We try to keep all cars charged when the get below 15km in range. Should you get below that you can safely go to your destination if possible. Or simply charge it.
Towing the car is an extra fee of 335€ according to our terms.
It is not permitted to smoke in our cars. A cleaning fee of 335€. will be added according to our terms.
Pets are not allowed either. A cleaning fee of 335€ will be added according to our terms.
Do not attach any type of extra equipment to the cars.
You must keep the car within the national borders.

How to add a credit card in the app
- Go to “Billing & FAQs” in the sidebar of the app and choose “Billing”.
- Choose “Add payment method” and add your card. Remember to select the card that should be default, if you have more than one card.
Can I use GreenMobility in other countries?
Yes, you can use our GreenMobility app and cars in the cities we operate in the same way as you know it from Finland. Just pay attention to the local traffic and parking rules. See which cities GreenMobility operates in here.
Can I use my friends/partners account?
Your GreenMobility account is personal and only you are allowed to drive with it. If you let another person drive on your account, you will be fined 250€ according to our terms and conditions.
Lost and found
Contact our customer service, if you have lost something in one of our cars. The item can be:
- Found and collected to our Helsinki office.
- Still inside the car. In this situation our customer service can help you locate and open the right vehicle, so you can easily collect your item from there.
